Information Technology

Spokane Falls Community College offers an Associates of Applied Science degree in Information Technology. Are you a technology buff? Are you always looking at the latest, greatest products to hit the market? Do you enjoy learning and problem-solving? You might make a great information technology professional if you answered yes to any of these questions.

Our Associate in Applied Science degree IT Cyber emphasis supports students through exploring and planning their cyber pathway.

After the first quarter on fundamentals, you'll be able to grow your skills by learning foundational cyber tools, including Linux, python, and networking in the second quarter. With these tools in place, the third quarter addresses informational technology's legal and ethical ramifications while exploring the vulnerabilities and security on-premises and in the cloud. At the start of your fourth quarter, you will build your work experience through our vast and local internship program and leverage your skills to defend against malicious attacks by analyzing and reporting actual security events. The fifth quarter provides an opportunity to reflect on threats, Operational Security intelligence, and forensics. In your last quarter, you will learn how to write technical and compliance reports and dive deeper into malware analysis and exploitation.

Throughout your academic journey, you'll have the opportunity to participate in local cyber competitions, engage in the Public Infrastructure Security Cyber Education Systems (PISCES), and apply for internships with regional industry partners.

New students can begin this course of study in either the Fall or Winter quarter. Our winter quarter start is online-only. All classes combine theoretical perspectives and hands-on experience with the latest technology.

What You’ll Learn

  • Design routing and switching environment for a business context
  • Explain the configuration of a virtualized environment and its integration of a storage area network
  • Explain the significance of database design for data retrieval and decision making in a commercial setting
  • Describe the role that scripting performs in the administration of a computing environment at the corporate level
  • Develop enterprise level disaster recovery plan
